Thunder in the Desert

On Sunday Laura, Alicia, and I went to the air show at Luke Air Force Base. I've never been to an air show before and felt like a kid in a candy store! There was so much to look at! The best was when the Thunderbirds performed. As always, I took way too many pictures but it was great! They had old planes set up to check out and some of them you could even climb up and look inside. I was looking for some B-25's for my Pop-Pop, but alas there were none.

Some of the planes that were flying around when we got there.

Off they go!

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds

At one point this plane flew 3 miles straight up into the air.

Yes, they were headed straight at each other!!!

I'm not sure how they don't throw up!

I'm not sure how far apart they were... but here it looks a little scary!

Phoenix Botanical Garden: Hummingbirds and Flowers

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the botanical gardens!!! I could have sat there all day waiting for the humming birds. I find them fascinating. I've always wanted to catch a hummingbird in a photo and I did!!!! I'm a little bit in love with these pictures right now... so don't mind me! :)

Here are the flowers and other critters!
I found this one after I added the butterflies and had to include it!

Phoenix Botanical Garden: The Butterfly Exhibit

Another fabulous thing we did on spring break was a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. I love taking pictures of flowers, birds, and butterflies and this was definitely the place to go!!! They have a special butterfly exhibit right now with butterflies from Florida. You could walk in amongst the butterflies. They were landing on people and the ground, so you had to becareful when walking. I could have spent the entire day in there taking pictures. Here are a few for you!!! My favorites are the top two. I'll put up the hummingbird and flower pictures later.

Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam

Spring Break has been pretty busy! Ashley and her roomie Lindsay flew into Vegas for a little vacation, so since they were on my side of the country I had to drive up and visit! We had a great time checking out Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, the Stratosphere tower, walking around almost all of Vegas and the humungous hotels/casinos and trying to hit it big on the slot machines! I can't forget to mention all of the yummy food we ate too! We also drove down to see the Hoover Dam.
Inside the Encore hotel. Lindsay was working on a project for school, so we walked around inside and found these pretty things hanging from the ceilings.
Stratosphere Tower... we were up at the top!!!!
Sisters on the AZ and NV border!

My camera still needs cleaned... ignore the weird black smudges at the top!
Standing in 2 states at one time!
I thought these statues were pretty neat!

This picture doesn't capture how far up I was... but trust me it was high and it kind of gave me the heebie jeebies!!! It drops straight down and then starts to curve. Yikes!
I couldn't even get the bottom of the dam in because it's so big!!!

Spring Break

Right now I'm on Spring Break! Hooray! Laura's parents (Laura's my roomie) are out visiting. We've been very busy! On Saturday I went to my first Spring Training game. It was the White Sox vs. the Rangers. The stadium where they practice and have their games is just a mile or so from my house. It's pretty great!

The Scoreboard

The girlies as the game!

Look at how close we were!

After the game we went on a mad hunt for McFlurries, since our section won them. The first McDonalds was out of ice cream. How you can run out of ice cream is unfathomable to me... but they were. So we had to go to the other McDonalds.

We came home for a bit, I took a little siesta, and then we left for a last minute trip to the White Tank Mountains before sunset. The desert flowers and cacti are just starting to bloom at this time of year. There'll be some more pictures when I go back!
The Running Man. Look at that cactus go!

Who wants to give Cactus Man a hug?
